How to view and remove exif data
- Drop a photo in the zone above. The metadata table shows everything the file carries.
- Look for the location row in particular. Phones embed GPS coordinates by default.
- Download the clean copy. Every metadata block is gone: EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and embedded thumbnails.
What EXIF data gives away
Most cameras and phones write metadata into every photo: the device, the exact time, the settings, and very often GPS coordinates precise enough to identify a home address. Anyone you send the file to can read it.
The clean download is produced by decoding the image to raw pixels and re-encoding it, which physically cannot carry metadata along. The converter on this site does the same, this tool just shows you what was there first.
Like everything on this site, the tool runs entirely in your browser. Your image is never uploaded, and the server only serves this page.
