How to sharpen an image

  1. Drop an image in the zone above.
  2. Drag the amount slider until edges look crisp. Past a certain point halos appear, back off a notch.
  3. Choose an output format and download at full resolution.

How sharpening works here

This is a classic unsharp mask: the image is compared against a slightly blurred copy of itself, and the differences, which are the edges, get amplified. It cannot invent detail that was never captured, but it makes real detail read clearly again.

Sharpening is the standard last step after resizing photos down, which is why it pairs well with the resize tool.

Like everything on this site, the tool runs entirely in your browser. Your image is never uploaded, and the server only serves this page.
