Why did other parts of the picture change too?
The tolerance is set high enough to include colours you didn't intend. Every pixel within that distance of the one you clicked is changed, wherever it happens to be in the image, so a sky and a pair of blue jeans can easily fall into the same range. Lower the tolerance until only the area you want is affected.
